Applying a germicidal agent to a basically clean surface requires the use of both detergent and disinfectant products, even if using an all in one cleaner disinfectant.
Detergents in themselves do nothing to kill germs. Although some disinfectants can act as detergents, many (such as bleach) do not. Virtually all disinfectants used on farms are inactivated by organic material (such as feces, vomit, saliva and dirt) to some extent, so if they are not applied to a clean surface, they simply will not work.
Removing disinfectant residue is as important to health and safety as the cleaning process itself. Contact with disinfectant residue can be detrimental to livestock and contaminate the food process.
